Welcome

The current installment of the COEC began meeting in 2007.

We are currently on a "break," for no particular reason, and many little reasons - mostly pertaining to life circumstances. If anyone is interested in calling a meeting, feel free to post on the blog, join the google group (see link below) and send an email, or contact either Nancy (nancykj10@yahoo.com) or Jesse (schroeder.jesse@gmail.com) for more information.

Wrap-up and Planning

I just wanted to thank everyone for coming to our concert today, it was great to see so many of you - for those of you that weren't able to attend, about 12 people attended a community choir performance of the Faure Requiem and then we went out to eat.

We didn't really get to talk about next week (at least not that I was aware of). I know that on Friday night some of us are planning on going to hear Greg play with Drums Downtown, and we might possibly got to a fish fry before - speaking of which, if you know of one put it in a comment. Do we still want to hold a discussion session of Sunday? I'm game, but I know we don't want to burden people.

Post your thoughts on that and let's try to figure this out in the next couple days so that we can plan before it is too late.

Just a heads up, the student tickets available at Explore Columbus (at the Shuenion) are sold out. Tickets are still available, as far as I know, through Ticketmaster.

The discussions are never a burden, I would still really like to meet. I don't know if anyone has a specific discussion topic to lead, especially with finals looming; maybe we could do a more roundtable discussion/readings/presentation of things we're into now and choose from that something that we could delve into deeper of the next two weeks then have a more intentional discussion then.

We could also catch up on Lent, prayer requests, and think about the next celebration of the faithful... a spring break service (community).

Or we can just eat muffins and talk too. Equally valuable.

I feel like I missed out a bit on the concert. Eve and I didn't get done with other church stuff till after 2 on Sunday so just sat around and watched the office.

For the next discussion group what do you guys think about watching that new NOOMA together and maybe trying to get into the topic of prayer over the next couple discussion groups?

Was anybody able to get extra student tickets or is everyone on their own now as far as tickets?

I'm definitely planning to be at drums downtown, and I think the fish fry would be lots of fun. I'm sure we can find somewhere to go. I know most of the more suburban catholic churches have them almost weekly (St. Brendan's on Dublin Rd. in Hilliard; Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Grove City)

Also - I think the prayer topic would be great. That NOOMA video was really good and sparked a lot of thoughts more me. Perhaps we could talk about prayer as it connects to more mystical / eastern spiritual practices? Just another thought or suggestion. Also, I really liked global gallery and would enjoy going there again.

Hey Zack, I was able to get an extra student ticket for Drums Downtown before they sold out at the union. So, I have one for you. I think you can buy the other at a ticket master location. Sorry I couldn't get you both one, but I'm only allowed to purchase 2 with my ID

If we met at the coffee shop, would we be able to watch the video? How long is it?

good point about the video, I thought about that too. I could bring my laptop - it's about 13 min. long

For tonight, there may be tickets available still at the door for anyone who was planning to come. With a student id, the tickets are $12. Otherwise, they are $17.
Also, here's a link regarding area fish fries this afternoon: http://blog.dispatch.com/compass/2008/

On Sunday, I would be happy to go back to the Global Gallery. It was quiet enough that watching the Nooma on a laptop should work okay.
See you all after the show!
