The current installment of the COEC began meeting in 2007.

We are currently on a "break," for no particular reason, and many little reasons - mostly pertaining to life circumstances. If anyone is interested in calling a meeting, feel free to post on the blog, join the google group (see link below) and send an email, or contact either Nancy (nancykj10@yahoo.com) or Jesse (schroeder.jesse@gmail.com) for more information.

To receive cohort emails, join our Google group.

Questions for Frost Reading

Sorry these were a while in coming, but here are some questions to accompany chapters 4 and 5 of Frost's Exiles. Of course, if anyone is particularly struck with something else, feel free to bring it up either at the discussion Sunday night, or here on the blog.

Also feel free to comment on these questions on the blog to generate more discussion. (the questions are posted in the "comments" to keep this post "shorter")

Chapter 4
-How does the Christian church substitute “signs of the real” for an authentic experience of God? How can we, as a small community, keep our experience of God authentic?
-How can I live a “powerless” lifestyle? (pg. 99)
-Which of the six values on pgs. 100-101, and seven characteristics on pg. 104 could our cohort especially embrace?

Chapter 5
-How has “community” been a disappointment for you in the past?
-Responses to the chart on pg. 111?
-What natural expressions of “communitas” have you experienced before? What are some of the characteristics of this experience that are especially meaningful?
-Responses to Alan Hirsch’s quote on pg. 123?
-Which of the six actions Frost derives from Rom. 12 (pg. 126) could our cohort especially embrace?
