This idea has been tossed around a few times, and I'd really love to get it rolling for a few reasons. I'd like to offer everyone (members of the cohort, readers of the blog, family, friends, unknown stalkers,
everyone) the opportunity to share their unique perspective on Christianity, the church, the world, and the "emergent church." The concept is based upon the Starbucks cups that have different quotes, and a number after the phrase "The Way I See It." (Interestingly enough, when I did a quick search,
this hilarious article came up.) Eventually, I would like to film everyone offering their thoughts, along with fitting and thought-provoking footage for the purpose of eventually editing together a sort of "intro to how we see emergent" video.
So if you are interested, here are the questions to think about, write down some thoughts, brainstorm what you would say about:
- How have you seen and experienced Christianity in the past?
- What do you see are some of the greatest needs of the world, your community? (these can be both religious and non-religious needs)
- How do you see the "emergent church"? In other words, what are you experiencing in the emergent church? How would you describe it in your own life?

Jesse,
Thanks for taking the initiative with this project. What I like most about the idea of corporately creating a video is that such an endeavor provides another outlet for us to ascribe our unique and local context onto the emergent conversation. (Did you intend for us to record our reflections on your questions here or just on our own?)
Greg
Right on Greg. The other idea we talked about at dinner was using the video as an avenue for introducing and explaining the cohort to people, as well as explaining the larger "emergent scene." I was also thinking today about possibly interviewing some pastors from around Columbus on their opinion of Emergent. Maybe it would fit in, maybe not.
As far as recording your reflections - I'd say if everyone thinks through what they would like to share and contribute, or the story they would like to tell, write down some ideas on your own, then let me know and we can set up a time to video tape it. I can either come and interview or video your thoughts, or we could wander around Columbus and you could show your neighborhood, your church, your friends, etc. Or I could lend you a camera and you could do some filming on your own. Whatever you would most want to do.
I'd also like to throw the doors open for anyone to contribute photography or original music. All could be used in the video. Basically anything creative that we could edit and compile together to be a snapshot of "the way we see it."
