We are currently on a "break," for no particular reason, and many little reasons - mostly pertaining to life circumstances. Sorry that Kellye and I couldn't make it. We both had long tough weeks, and really needed the morning off. I hope it was a good time with Mike, and I'm guessing Adam and Kara came as well??
Yes Adam, Kara and Henry came too.
I actually do not have an adequate word for how special it was. To try and describe it , I will tell you that as soon as I heard the bells welcoming us to the service, my eyes started tearing up.
Oh my gosh-one thing I know--my soul longs for this. Every single chord in my body was humming in recognition as I sat in that beautiful cathedral. Every song, every time someone made the sign of the cross, every prayer...even the communion portion (of which I could not participate) moved me in a tender way.
I'm not sure what to do with that. Even if I went through all the necessary rules and requirements to belong, I think I would always feel like a guest borrowing incredibly beautiful clothes that do not quite fit.
And how could I, with so many of my own beliefs hanging in uncertainty, ever belong in a place with so much certainty?
It is the history and symbolism that resonates with something in me. It is a beauty that makes me speechless. I don't know...Maybe it's simply that I am starved for this--ritual, history, belonging, beauty, ceremony and it is all there in one place.
And it is Mike's history.
